Belgian Local TV Channel Vedia Introduced a New Virtual Set that Extends Beyond the Studio
Vedia was already a long-time user of virtual studio technology, however, the virtual solution they had was old and no longer maintained, so the change was mandatory for them. At first, they aimed to replace the old VR system to switch to modern technology and get better-looking results. Then, they have decided to pick the technology and it had to be built on top of a modern rendering engine and should be able to take advantage of the existing tracking solutions that they already use.
Vedia has commissioned a team of experts to evaluate solutions, and Zero Density provided a complete, solid solution and managed to display the integration with their existing tools.
Creative services are provided by Zero Density’s Partner DreamWall.
“Zero Density is the best solution on the market and is already existing tracking system. Zero Density Reality Engine was the only solution to provide a broadcast quality result with tools targeted for broadcasters. The flexibility of the Node Based Processing approach is future-proof and efficient. Reality Keyer is a high quality and high-performance keyer that enables our productions to include real-time reflections and refractions. Together with a photorealistic design, the result is absolutely satisfying. The experience we already had with “Envoyé Special” was the main attractive feature.” said Thibault Baras, General Manager of DreamWall.
Dreamwall provided Vedia a unique virtual set experience. The newscast starts with an opening sequence where a landscape with a 3D logo of the Vedia in the beginning. The virtual camera then flies over the street between the buildings where the video billboards running the clips of the news in the bulletin placed on top. And the camera enters into the Vedia studio, the virtual glass panels open to reveal a real-time image of the presenter standing in the virtual space.
After the opening, the camera view switches to the presenter in the virtual studio, which does include a real desk.
All four cameras are installed on top of Ross Furio robotic cameras.
Four Zero Density render engines power the virtual studio.
