NetEase Games Virtual Event powered by Reality

Netease Games, Chinese online PC and mobile games developer with increasing success in the most established mobile game markets in the world, wanted to celebrate the 18th year of their beloved game The Westward Journey Online II with a special event. Utilizing Reality Virtual Studio‘s advanced tools, they organized a fun party for the fans.

Westward Journey’s content takes its inspiration from Chinese literature and the design team successfully reflected this concept to the work. Digital FUN designed the ancient capital of Tang Dynasty’s Chang-an city with details of shops, pagodas, ponds and lakes. Popular singers were invited to sing in the virtual space. Their performances were record-to-tape for minor post-production work.

The production took place inside an L-shaped green box of 12mx12m size, and used three tracked cameras with 3 engines. Camera tracking provided by Stype Kit with Human crane and two Gension pedastals.
