KST Implements a UHD Virtual Studio in Essen for RWE
Zero Density’s regional partner KST Moschkau has recently taken on a special project to build a virtual studio in Essen for one of the biggest energy companies in Europe. RWE will utilize this 3D virtual studio capability for advertisements, internal corporate communications and conferences, which will mark a special use case for this technology. The company has a total of 80 sites worldwide with 20,000-plus employees and they found an innovative and sustainable way to address this vast employee, partner and customer network.
Products and Technology
In summer 2019, Panasonic and Zero Density has announced a cost effective virtual studio production solution by combining ZD’s real-time broadcast compositor Reality Engine and Panasonic 4K PTZ camera, AW-UE150. This high-quality and affordable solution aimed to provide many more users with access to virtual studio applications. As an example to this, RWE’s brand new studio is equipped with 4 Reality Engines and 4 Panasonic AW-UE150 cameras.
Reality Engine enables hyper-realistic rendering and compositing in Unreal Engine and brings together create, control, produce in one system. RWE will also have the options to broadcast real-time native 4K, UHD and SDI with highest photorealism.
KST’s own camera control and automation software CamBot is used as the nerve center of the studio which will give RWE much needed studio automation power. CamBot allows movements of high accuracy in a reduced space and based on software interface, the robotic arm can be fully automated with repeatable trajectories.
Zero Density partner KST is in charge of building the green studio, setting up the infrastructure as well as implementing the latest technologies to be used in production. Additionally, RWE will receive the set design support from the KST team but in the meantime they will commit their staff for training to be fully autonomous in their design activities. In a very short time RWE will design their virtual studio content and operate the studio equipment by themselves.
