Reality Engine as a 4K On-air CG in FIFA World Cup Russia 2018
Shanghai Media Technology (SMT), Zero Density’s Shanghai based client, has used Reality Engine as an onair CG machine in a 4K production workflow for the FIFA World Cup Russia 2018 live broadcasting.
Mr. Gu, the senior production manager from SMT explained why they adopted Reality Engine as a 4K on-air CG machine:
“Compared with the traditional subtitle machines or online graphic machines who use pre-rendered sequence or animations for the lowerthirds, we are able to use blueprint, UMG, and materials in Reality Engine . Therefore, Reality Engine won’t face the overload problem of having too many sequence animations, objects etc. Blueprint allows more flexible adjustments. Even onair programs have opportunities to make quick adjustments. Moreover, Reality provides more convenient automatic control than any other traditional subtitle machine.”
During the World Cup, SMT provides production service for Migu Video who (live) broadcast World Cup online in 4K workflow. This is the first time such large sport event is broadcasted in 4K in China. During the past two weeks, everyday more than 100 million audience watch World Cup from Migu Video.
